Managing Emotional Intensity

Strong emotions, both positive and negative are the result of working hard for something that you care a great deal about. Excitement, anger and disappointment are part of the experience of tennis competition. Mental conditioning can help you utilize emotional energy to motivate and propel yourself to perform at your highest levels. Successful athletes know that there is an optimal level of intensity for each aspect of their sport. Too little intensity can give a listless performance and too much intensity can lead to being tight and therefore harm performance.
